LeaseRedFlag is an informational publication. The analyzer identifies which clause types appear in your lease text. The per-state rule pages summarize state landlord-tenant doctrine in plain English and link to primary state-legislature sources. Nothing here is legal advice.
We are not a law firm. We do not represent you. We do not enter into attorney-client relationships through the site. Reading a page, running a paste through the analyzer, or contacting us via the about page does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Why this matters
- State landlord-tenant law changes annually. A rule that was true last year may be different now. Always confirm with the linked primary state-legislature source and a licensed attorney before acting.
- Lease enforcement turns on facts we can't see — written notices given, payment history, recorded conversations, jurisdiction-specific filing rules. Our per-state rule pages state the doctrine; whether it applies to your situation is a fact-bound legal question.
- "Pending verification" cells are honestly labeled. They are not guesses. Treat any unverified cell as a starting point for direct verification with the state legislature.
Before you rely on any output
- Open the linked primary state-legislature source. Read the statute. Note the effective date.
- Talk to a licensed real-property or tenant-rights attorney in your state. State bar lawyer-referral services are the cheapest starting point. Some legal-aid networks provide free consultations to qualifying tenants.
- Document your situation in writing — notice dates, amounts, communications. If you're in an active dispute, time-stamped records matter.
Editorial independence
We don't accept landlord/property-management advertising. We don't partner with eviction-mill operators. We don't sell lease-data to tenant-screening platforms. The site is editorially independent of any affiliate whose link may appear on it.

Most state pages link to the state bar lawyer-referral service. See the California state page for an example, and the about page for our reviewer policy.
